Overview:Based on real facts, the story is about the chief doctor of a psychiatric hospital, Naum Balaban, and his wife, Elizaveta Nelidova. The film covers the period of the characters ' lives from 1910 to 1942. During the years of repression, Balaban saved people from the NKVD, attributing psychiatric diagnoses to them. And once in the German occupation, he helped Jews and saved most of his patients.
